Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, this bridge, inaugurated in December 2000, is of a unique design in France. Its simple and clean lines make it majestic and its integration into the unique landscape is quite successful.

Happy newyear! (and a thought..)

Fireworks!

A year has gone by… how time flies!..

I started this blog back in August / September this year. I choose to use WordPress, because I like it’s concepts. It was never intended to be a “high profile” blog with huge amounts of traffic. No, I was very happy with the few visitors I had each day. So I was very surprised to see a huge rise in visitors about three weeks ago. What happened?

After a few days I decided to investigate. It was not difficult to see what was going on: I had (and I still have) hundreds of connections each day on one particular page: “wp-login.php”. Now that’s interesting! Every day a few hundred machines, probably part of a botnet, are trying to crack my admin password by brute-force.

I’m not too worried though, because I have a pretty strong password, but I decided to install a supplemental plugin called “Limit Login Attempts” to limit the connection rate of the bad guys. This way it should take them a few hundred years(!) to find my password according to statistical laws…

But all this made me think. I wonder how many small blogs, “abandoned” blogs or blogs with a low posting frequency are hacked without the owner knowing anything about it? Because it has become obvious to me that these kinds of “low profile websites” are ideal targets for hackers… Scary…!

Anyway: happy new year and blog safely!

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays

No, no new photo this time.  I took this one last year during the holiday season and it’s in color; no black and white for once.

I’ve been very busy lately in my new job as a project manager and PHP developer. An exciting job that has taken almost all of my spare time so I didn’t have time to go out and shoot. I hope to get back to photography next month, if my work lets me.

But for now: a few days off to relax with my family. Cool! I wish you all the best for 2013 and[mantra-pullquote align=”left|center|right” textalign=”left|center|right” width=”33%”]happy holidays![/mantra-pullquote]
